If you feel worried of iPhone Home button become less responsive to clicks, and pressing the button will either result in a delay, lag, or sometimes complete unresponsiveness requiring multiple clicks. While this could be symptomatic of a hardware issue caused by moisture damage or dropping the phone, sometimes you can fix the response problem with the following software fix sequences:
- Open a default iOS application, such as Stocks, Calculator, or Weather
- Press and hold down the Power button (at the top) until the “Slide to Power Off” dialog appears, then release
- Now press and hold only the Home button until the “Slide to Power Off” screen disappears (it may take a min) & force quitting the application
This may works to fix the buttons responsiveness isn’t entirely clear, because the procedure actually just force quits the application you launched in the first step. This procedure supposedly recalibrates the Home button. Whatever is going on behind the scenes, it does seem to work and definitely has made mine seem to respond quicker.
This should also help the iPad and iPod touch home buttons as well.
If you try this and still have problems with the home button being unresponsive, you may just need to get it repaired or try this alternate solution.

Its can also be used same with iPhone's Home button, the button at the bottom center of the phone. No Apps required just you need to upgrade to iOS5 for this feature.
Go to Setting >> General >> Accessibility >> Assistive Touch, select ON. Your iPhone will have a circle on the bottom right of the screen. Tap the circle for iPhone home button on screen will show.

"Assistive Touch allows you to use iPhone if you have difficult touching the screen or if you require an adaptive accessory." The iPhone home button is the most commonly used. However, I think its may not easy to broken and not working, but this feature will reduce number of iPhone Home Button use. Except, when Sleep mode cannot use iPhone home button on screen.
Tip : If your iphone touch is unresponsive while receiving a phone call. Long press your home button for 2-3 secons & then try swipe to attend the call. It works most of the time.
